Just out of sheer curiousity, how many times has the Tumbling Bear announced his retirement? :axe:

Hmm, dare we hope for three Zeros and an Oscar?

I know I am daring to hope so! I assume the third Zero will be the TFL airplane which is fantastic as I have not seen that one before. Sure hope they bring some more of their fleet along with it! I was also REALLY hoping to see the Lewis A-20 but I guess that may be a long shot eh?

As a former event organizer I see that line up and see lots of $$$ for appearance fees. But this is Chino and they have an audience of millions! Looks like a awesome show for 2016 - but what PoF show hasn't been awesome?!

Seeing as this year's theme for the show is the 75th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, it would make a lot of sense if they got the Lewis group to bring their P-40C (painted in George Welch markings) and got the A6M2 Zero from the Texas Flying Legends group (the only Zero flying today that is of the type that was used in the Pearl Harbor attack). Granted, if there is going to be three Zero's flying at the show (like in 2012), the POF Zero itself will need to be completed/test flown in-time for the show.

Here are a couple photos of the POF Zero from just a few weeks ago, looking to be nearing completion of its (two-year long) major overhaul - it is looking absolutely fantastic!:

(As I recall, there was in-fact an A-20 at Pearl Harbor during the attack).

I think there is a lot of trading that goes on. You fly to their show, they fly to your show. And then some of the folks are museum sponsors anyhow.

Could be, but trading like that does not pay the insurance or maintenance costs. Texas is a long way to come, about 1100ish miles and with 100LL at $3.75 per gallon your transit fuel bill gets up there for just a, "you fly my show I'll fly yours". BUT I could be totally barking mad on this one to. . . :D

Either way it'll be a great show!

No doubt about administrative costs, and the cost of fuel. It seems to me that the POF show always has a lot of planes in attendance from Texas. I know the Friedkin family, and Mr. Lewis support the show, and have planes from their collections there, but usually there are at least a few P-51s from the lone star state owned by others.

I'm always happy to see the planes that come to Chino every year, but I also am happy to see some aircraft coming from different organizations, like TFL's, and the Erickson collection. I hope Tangerine, the Zero, and Oscar show up from the Erickson collection.

It's really great to see all the warbird organizations supporting one another. With POF flying a couple of their aircraft up to FHC's shows for the past couple of years, I hope Mr. Hinton can one day talk Mr. Allen into flying a few of his aircraft down to Chino. Fw-190 A-5? Bf-109? Shturmovic?

Okay this is what i'd like to see at the CHino show this year: two A-20 Havocs on the ramp. One flyable and the other available for purchase. Tow flyable P-39s, two early P-40s and two P-35/ At-12s also flyers. (Yes, Kermit's guy needs to get his butt in gear and get Kermit's P-35 finished). The a nice collection of pre-pearl harbor types including the B-24a, p-51a, and the Avirex 1940 B-25. There's also a B-23 flyer out there somewhere. Then a half dozen PT-22's and the three Zeros , plus an Oscar. Maybe throw in an L-1 or other one of a kind types.

Isn't the B-23 still under (long) restoration to fly?

I'd agree I'd like to see Rod Lewis' P-39 even fly at an airshow, let alone at Chino. I don't think it's made an airshow appearance since LAL acquired it from TFC?
