No I meant photos during world war 2, Korea or Vietnam

A question about the engines. They were OH to 0 time in 1964 if I read correctly.
Would one just rebuilt them again since the were "crate stored", or inspect them internally with a borescope and run them on the ground for awhile.

Just curious as to how old 0 time engines are handled.

Up to the individual owner, the 2 main trains of thought are. You can hot pre-oil the heck out of it and hope the master rod bearings come back to life happily. You'll know within 20 hours if they did or not. The other option is to split the engine and have the bearings re-processed, higher likely hood of not turing it into a low yield, labour intensive silver mine.

Did an engine change on a C123 years ago this was a R2800-99W we got the engine off of a C123 gate guard at Mcguire they were junking out. Someone dropped of a PW 99W book that said any engine 0 time or anytime that has been sitting around and not run you need to pre oil the engine. Again this is the 99W. On the bottom of the oil screen there is a pipe fitting with a pipe plug. Remove the pipe plug install fitting to connect a 1/4 inch rubber hose. Then fix up 5 gal bucket with hand pump and pump 5 gal 120/60 engine oil. Then pull one spark plug from each jug. And pull one upper val cover off. With one person on the prop one on top of engine looking for oil coming up the val push rod and one person on the pump. When pumping the person on the prop slowly truns prop. When we saw oil coming into rocker box. Told the guy on the prop to stand clear had pilot turn on batt and motored engine with starter while pumping hand pump. Put the plugs back in and seems to have worked ok. In other words it ran fine for a number of years.

Also when pulling the plugs we squirted eng oil in the cyc. I will call the feds and see what they say bout the yellow tags
