Foggia airfields

I am reading Barrett Tillman's Forgotten Fifteenth which I am enjoying a lot. I was just wondering whats left if anything from the Foggia airfields in Italy where the 15th operated from?

A few years ago we did a group trip to Italy. One of the highlights was driving through the area around Foggia. The entire area had reverted back to farming. We had a real hard time finding any of the bases...mind you this was before google maps and all the other fancy apps available to us today. After stopping and asking locals we located 3 bases. I had done some prior research in trying to get some then and now shots but they had very little in the way of permanent buildings. It is still very humbling to walk that area, and even today it is very remote, I can only imagine 70 years ago, just how "in the middle of nowhere" they actually were.

San Giovanni was pretty haunting, it is on a functioning farm but none of the wartime buildings are in use. it was like they were just left

This time last year I was travelling with a dozen of my old regimental chums around the battle fields of SE Italy.

On the leg Vieste to Trani, about 120 kms, on the coastal road, it passes quite close to the general area of Foggia.

It had been a long day and most were asleep on the coach but I spotted this structure from some way out and managed to grab a couple of shots as we passed.

The style of construction seemed similar to a WWII photo I remember and I am pretty sure this was a former hangar.
