Douglas SBD-5 #8 Atlantic ASW patrol, then & then later ...

... looked good flying until it decided to take a swim. Relatively tame water landing I'd say. Doesn't seem like too much damage upon touch down. A bit damp though.
Not sure about the history here. Looks to be possibly a fresh water inlet or marsh area on the east coast?

Looks like it could have flown again, very little visible damage.

Just because these schemes are a favorite. It would have been neat to see a Corsair or Hellcat in this scheme as well.
