Lynn, this G-12 conversion is the former Harold Kindsvater Buchon.

This used to be Harold Kindsvater's single seater. Hangar10, the owner, also has a stock Bf-109G-6 (new build/original parts/data plate) all but ready to fly as well, also at MeierMotors. The ex-French Flugwerk FW-190 that ditched in the sea several years back, is also advancing right along at MeierMotors, and it too is owned by Hangar10.

Connie Edwards' two-seater Buchon is in England for rebuild, where it has been said that it will be providing rides for sale as well when completed/flying again.

I'm hoping that one day someone will restore a Merlin-engined Buchon as a Spanish AF machine: there's a whole lot of history being ignored there.

Here is another photo of the same aircraft that was the inspiration for the paint scheme, this one from the MeierMotors website (copyright Sammlung Genth). It's in the Warbirdsnews article as well.



It is stated on the MeierMotors website that initially 500 G-12's were to be built, but it is estimated that only 170 were completed. G-12 production started out by converting outdated G-2's, then G-4's, and G-6's.

As mentioned in the Warbirdsnews article, the aircraft was operated in stock Buchon form, following the sale to Hangar10 in Germany, beginning in 2010. It was displayed/flown at various airshows, including Flying Legends 2011. It had a landing accident in 2013, and since it was going to require considerable work to repair everything firewall-forward anyway, the decision was made to take the opportunity to convert it to DB605 power, and that was followed up with the further idea to convert it to a stock G-12 variant, to make it a pilot training and ride-selling platform for the museum (as I wrote, they also have a stock single seat Bf-109G-6 all but ready to fly, and Hangar10 has also been linked to owning an E-variant, that has also been under restoration in Europe (much of the work performed by Craig Charleston in England)).
