A-36 Apache restorations

Hello everyone. I just found this site a couple of days ago and have reading all of the messages on this wonderful forum. I'm just surprised that I hadn't found this place sooner. 
In all of the messages that I have read so far, I haven't run across any information on any of the A-36's that have survived. I know the one out at Chino is still in pieces, and has been that way since it came back from the UK. Does anyone have any information when it might be flying again, and if will be left in it's current scheme or given one more authentic to wartime A-36's? Any idea if it will end up back at the Lone Star Flight Museum after it's rebuilt?
Also, does anyone have any pictures or restoration updates on the Collings Foundation A-36?

Welcome Connery, to save time in "weeding thru" the archives you can
go to the top of the Page Heading beneath the disclaimer and you'll
find a Search feature. Type in A-36, and any thread which mentioned the

Thanks guys, I did just that, used the search function and found mostly what I was looking for. I just hadn't gone back far enough in my "wading through" all of the postings
Also, I am aware of the fuselage height differences (top of wing to cockpit frame) from the allison and merlin powered Mustangs, but can anyone tell me what the actual difference is in inches? I will be building a 1/5 RC A-36 next year and I want to make it as scale as possible. This will require much modifications to existing plans, since all of the plans that are currently available are designed around merlin powered Mustangs.

Check out this site for the Collings A-36. It was moved to American Areo Servises and the restoration looks to be under way. If it comes out 1/2 as nice the the F4U-5NL they restored it will be Beautiful.

Are you the same Connery that has the P-47 project posted over on Rcuniverse?
If you are, WIX has a model builder section also. I'd be cool to see your shots there also.

Hi Connery, glad you stumbled into WIX. I've been told by several sources that the total difference in fuse height amounts to something very close to 2 inches on the full size. I'm pretty sure I've seen documentation to back this up and, if I can find it, I will post it here. Regards, Chad Veich.

Chino A-36 has been demated and stripped and is undergoing a full restoration. The fuselage is just a bare shell at this moment.

WOW! That's a BIG difference from the last pic that was published. I wish I was closer and could follow the restoration and take LOTS of pics, or even volunteer to assist if possible. Anyone know if they have decided on a paint scheme yet?
