AVG Tribute Sept. 24th & 25th

Wed Sep 07, 2016 6:33 pm

Howdy all. Will anyone be attending the tribute down at DeKalb-Peachtree airport (PDK) on the 23rd & 25th of September? i'm leaving Ohio on the 23rd to attend. while down there I'll probably stop at the Georgia Veterans Park AND definitely will be stopping in to see Tom (hang the expense) for a day or so. Anyways if anyone else will be there lets meet up and put in person faces with names! :drink3:

My Dad and I will be making the drive from Savannah and are hoping to see the XP-82 en route/ on return if we can...Will have to pursue that further! I would love to meet Tom as I spoke to him years back when I was still working on the B-17 City of Savannah restoration team. Which day are you going to the show? Depending on which way you travel, the museum at Warner Robins may not be far. It's a great place to visit if you have time, and they recently got Chanute's P-51h and a B-17 which is being restored while on display.

Probably going to the show on Sunday, and spend a good portion of Saturday at Toms place.

Well finally have time to share things about the show. Very good turnout on both days, a lot of veterans from WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. I was fortunate enough to talk with many of them and hear their stories. Matt (FutureCorsairOwner) it was good to meet you and share conversations. I think that one of the highlights for me other than the 5 P-40's in attendance was meeting Dick Cole, Jimmy Doolittles copilot. Was only able to speak with him for a brief moment due to the heat and his people wanted him out of the sun.
