10th AF Burma 1943 ...

Fri Sep 23, 2016 3:00 pm

Here's a new LIFE series showing some pretty rare shots of the 10th USAAF in Burma in 1943. Some nice shots of P-40E's with the 76th FS, 23rd FG, a few ex. Flying Tigers P-40's & ex. Chinese air force P-43As.
No info on who most of the folks are or when and where other than Burma 1943. Channault is in a couple of photos as well.

Once again, just excellent photos!

I had never seen the "blast tubes" over the engine on the early P-40's before.

Do you think those bats are just "hanging" around on the netting on their own, or did they get snared by accident?

Some really nice pictures there. Really like seeing what to me have to be ex AVG P-40s with US markings added.
