"Spitfire Ace" on History International

Sun Jan 15, 2006 8:24 am

Saturday night was the 2nd installment of the 2003 series "Spitfire Ace" on the History International channel.

I didn't catch it the first time it was on, so it's very interesting. Set your TiVos!

I too caught part 2 Saturday, I taped part 1 from last week and watched it right after. In the first part Brendon O'Brien is flying with one of the pilots who eventually didn't make the cut. But in one scene when he is flying the Tiger Moth he is flying very aggressively and O'Brien is trying to get him to fly more smoothly with not too much sucess. Finally he tells him "Make love to the sky...Don't Shag it!"

The series is well done with great vintage footage mixed in with shots of ML407. The interviews with the BOB vets are priceless. I like when one of them recalls the first time he spotted enemy aircraft. "Oh look down there, theres some planes with crosses on the wings." The Sqn Ldr replies, "Thats the bloody enemy you fool!"
