German Bomber recovery in Norway...

I did a search for this info here on WIX but didn't see anything. So forgive me if I missed this topic. I saw an article about a recovery of 2 german bombers, a Do-17 and a He-111, in Norway. The aircraft were supposedly poluting the lake they were in, which was the local populations drinking supply. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had info on this. How did the recovery go? Are they being restored right now? If so, to display or airworthy? Thanks...

It was a Heinkel 111, and a Junkers 88 (not a Do-17). The recovery went extremely well. I believe that the Heinkel went to a German museum (they funded the recovery). The Junkers 88 went to a Norwegian museum, however, the Junkers 88 that they already had from a previous salvage operation was sent to the German museum. I am still uncertain why they did this, as the -88 recovered earlier seemed to be in better condition (no fire damage). There are a couple of websites with extremely detailed images of the recoveries, and on the current restorations, but I don't have these to hand at present... perhaps someone else can help there.

The later Ju88 from the lake has a Norwegian history, wheras the one from the fresh water fjord has none ( and is also suffering from some corrosion) . The latter aircraft will eventually go to DTM Berlin, but at present remains at Gardermoen.
