Planes in storage, Natl Museum of the USAF..

Mon Jan 16, 2006 8:21 pm

Does anyone have a complete list of the planes in storage at the Natl Museum of the USAF? These are the ones I believe are in storage: North American AT-6G, Douglas B-23, Douglas C-39A (DC-2), Ercoupe 415, Casa-2.111B ( He 111) and the Fairchild PT-26. Anybody know of any others?

I was under the impression they were restoring the B-23.

Wolverine, The last 2 restoration updates on the museum's website make no mention of the B-23 being restored and another page of the website states its "off public view" so I assumed it is in storage.

Ah. I see.

I don't recall seeing pictures of it in their restoration hangar nor any mention of it recently, so you're probably right.

When I was down there last year there was several Migs just sitting in the restoration area. I think there is still 2 B-47s sitting outside.

They have a Luscombe..a mig 29, SU-27, T-6 Texan II, The RB-47 (outdoors) the Jack..the B-23 is not in the restoration center, nor is the the JU-52... and lots of missles, which are the priority right now as the Missle gallery is pretty sparce and they need to fill the space asap.

The George has been in "restoration" but in the last 2 years it doesn't look like much work has been done on it. COuld only notice a slight change.
