found a Messerschmidt Me 109 in a good condition

Tue Jan 17, 2006 1:46 pm

From the Planes of Fame board (http://www.warbird-photos.com/planesoffame/viewtopic.php?t=382&highlight=):

Hi,

I´m an airplane fan and diver from Germany , and a new user of your nice forum. A friend of mine, who went out diving near the greek coast last year found a Messerschmidt Me 109 in a good condition, pretty close to the coast and not that extremely deep out there.
Who would be interested to save the warplane from the sea and who would be willing to finance it ?
Any message welcome and any information requested.
Of course we would be ready to hand it out to planes of fame or the investor after the wreck is saved.
Waiting for your comments.

Heheheeeahhhhhhh,

I've seen that somewhere before in the last two years. I think the last one was in a lake in germany or norway or something. I think we talked about it here, and decided it was a scam. It's the same everything, my buddy is a diver, ect. The only difference is the location.

I guess it would be cool if I was wrong. If I am, then our Greek bro's are gonna really dig this cat pulling antiquities out of their waters. I think that that would be a Federal Pound You In,,,,,,,ahhh you know, that kind of prison.

Here's the reply I posted to this dude.

This sounds very interesting. Would you be kind enough to post photos of the aircraft along with a contact at the Greek Government agency that would have to give permission to recover the aircraft?
I have recently won the powerball lottery here in the US and would love to have a 109.

A 109? After 60+ years in warm salt water? In reasonably good shape? As the saying goes, "Not bloody likely, mate..."

Same song, second verse...

I love how a popular scam keeps reinventing itself -- this was just forwarded from a buddy of mine...

Dude! I've got this great ocean-front property for sale... superb location... right on the outskirts of Phoenix... really... you'll love it...

I'll ask my friend if he has any contact info on these guys -- but, I'm willing to bet that if we ask to see the film, it will involve some kind of "good faith" payment" (and I'm saving my money for a beachside condo in Scottsdale Shores 8) )

The Crete 109 post is quite old, the aircraft does exist, although not worth the cost of recovering. The 110 also exists as we were sent photos in the past few days at the CW office ( along with many others by the sound of it). This is much more interesting, although it looks intact and partially buried, it is hard to tell condition and so on....
