This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

EDIT: I'm going to start over with this thread. The original facebook post didn't work out the way I would have liked. So I think many of you will like this thread content instead.
This is another great LIFE series with some outstanding photos of USAAF training activities at the Army Airfield at Orlando FLA in 1943.

Hi Mark,
I am on Facebook but your group link is to a closed group so outsiders cannot see its posts and your direct link wont load unless (I'm assuming) you are a member of the group. Just an FYI.

Here's a coincidence - I saw this on eBay the other day; it has an hour to go:

Edit: Sold for 99¢.

I love the B-17 fuselage turned into a ditching trainer.
Notice that it and the flying example are both "E"s.

Check the photos again - the B-17 fuselage is a wooden mockup. Looks like it was set up on a small barge to be towed out into the lake for training; but another base had a real fuselage that was used in the how-to-ditch training film. Compared to a real one, the mockup frankly looks like an enlarged version of an Aurora model!
