M. Burns a P-47 pilot!

Sun Feb 12, 2006 9:47 pm

I'm watching a Simpsons episode ("Homer the Smithers", season 7), and in Burns' house, on a wall, there's a picture of him in pilot suit with a P-47 behind.

Neat!

Heh, that's flexible reality for you. I can recall an episode where Mr Burns was a private in a regular arm unit, and a more recent one where he was a gunner in a SBD.

That explains it, I just thought they were yellow because there was something wrong with my TV.

Don’t mess with one of the last surviving members of the “Fighting Hellfish,” man!

Wait a minute, Spielbergo, Schindler and I are like peas in a pod. Both factory owners, both made shells for the Nazis, only mine worked, damnit!

Ooh, the Germans are mad at me. I'm so scared! Oooh, the Germans! What are the Germans going to do to me?!

Ah, the Luftwaffe. The Washington Generals of the History Channel.

The day the Navy ended :(

I beg to differ. A black mark for sure but certainly not an end to all things good about the Navy. The U.S. Navy is one of the finest institutions around, but even at that, a few "rocks" seem to find their way into it. Any dark events that I was ever witness to or heard about were the results of individuals making poor judgment calls. Not a flaw with the Navy or it's policies.

The U.S. Navy will continue on to be the Best and Bightest.

I can only justify my comment on what I saw in the Navy and those very close friends that were in the Navy before and after the Tail hook deal went down.

Tail hook was the start of the decline of Naval Tradition. The PC crowd removed Hazing (giving dirt bags shower musters…), initiations (No more tacking on crows…) and other parts of the Navy that were time honored traditions.

Traditions give a direct link from Sailor' today to Sailors of yesterday.
