Any British civilian painted Mustangs..??

We know there were several civilian Spitfires and Sea Furies, ect. before the "Warbird Movement"





But I've never seen any civilian British Mustangs??

The only ones that I can think of are G-ARUK and G-ARUK. Don't think either of them made it to the UK, KD being abandoned in Athens, although the remains have been registered here now, and UK being lost in an accident in Australia prior to delivery.

The UK did have 2 civilian painted Mustangs however, Charles Masefield operated N6356T in the late 60s early 70s, and Ormond Haydon - Baillie had I-BILL for a short time in 1977.

I recall a D with gray/green RAF Camo has recently been flying in Europe.

Stephen Grey's N6340T arrived in the UK in August of 1980 in its red/ white paint job. Ferried by the late John Crocker if my memory serves me right. I don't know how much time it actually spent in England as it was also seen at the owner's base in Switzerland. By April 1981 it was in the paint booth at Heathrow though, and shed its civilian clothes for the 357th FG colors as G4*S "Moose". By mid-May the 51 made its debut at Biggin Hill flown by Ray Hanna.

That would be the old race #7 "Candyman".
Did it ever have the G-BTCD registration in those colors?

No, the only reg # this plane had while Red/ White was N6340T.
