Colonel Kress Muhlenberg USAAF - Pearl Harbor Speeches?

Sun Dec 18, 2016 3:56 am

I just came across a tiny snippet of information that appeared in two separate New Zealand newspapers on the 22nd of December 1941, the New Zealand Herald and The Press. It states this:

----------------------------------------

HAWAII AIR CHIEF

THE PEARL HARBOUR RAID

FURTHER DETAILS GIVEN

(Recd. 5.35 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Dec. 10

The military authorities have confined in Fort Hayes Colonel Kress Muhlenberg, former commandant of Hickham airfield, Hawaii, pending an investigation of his recent speeches.

----------------------------------------

This is one snippet of news that was with a load of other snippets in the latest report on the situation following the attacks. I have tried to find out more about this colonel, who he was and what he allegedly did, etc. I have only discovered he seems to have probably been a Colonel Henry C. Kress Muhlengerg. There's nothing online so far as I can see about why he was 'confined' and what was in his 'recent speeches'. Does anyone know more please?

I would suggest editing your thread title. In this internet age it has the tendency to slander someone.

Whilst I don't think my question in the title was at all slanderous I have changed the wording anyway because thanks to the article you found it looks like he was much more on the side of right than wrong.
