Here's a pretty good article from yesterday on old artifacts discovered on the bottom of the Detroit River. Some of these old artifacts have been preserved fairly well. There 46 photo's of things recovered from the bottom....some going back to the 1700's. For those folks who are searching for planes in Lake Erie, this may offer some hope anything found maybe in decent shape WRT to being submerged in that water for a long time.

Ya...I thought it was neat too and informative. Submerged planes immediately came to mind as I was looking at the recovered artifacts.

Photo of PBY that was pulled out of the river. And a TBM that I'm sure parts are still there.
I believe both were assigned to Naval Air Station Grosse Ile. It operated from 1927 until late 1969. So who knows what planes could be there.
