F2H-3 for possible sale

Tue Feb 07, 2017 8:35 am

Hello,

I have been in contact with the Quonset Air museum and I asked about the status of the former Leon Cleaver F2H-3 Banshee. There has been work done to it-new skin etc. I asked if they would want to sell it, and they said yes. I would love to buy it but I am already deep in projects. I offered a low price. They told me they have had higher offers, but they are not inclined to take that offer since that party apparently is not very liked. So I am putting it out there, if anyone is interested in the only Banshee left to be restored in the world, let me know and I will give you contact information. It is a rare -3 model and would be great addition to any museum.

thanks,
Nathan

Interesting - the J34 engines are around and available, could this be brought all the way back to life? Is anyone else out there working on a flying Banshee?

doubtful. This F2H was used as a target on a Sheriffs gun range and was/is full of holes.

its a nice piece, regardless.

Anything can be "fixed" maybe re-skin it?
Any pictures of this aircraft please?

Doesn't look that bad. Gary would've had that thing flying in a week!

ALOHADAVE - The Quonset Museum had been re-skinning the Banshee a little at a time...I imagine the project wasn't on a fast track. For a photo collage, go to Aerial Visuals website...
Go to locator; fill in boxes at top - North America, United States, Ohio, Norwalk, Leon Cleaver collection then Dossier. Schroll down to F2H-3...use back arrow to navigate.... 8)

Dave - Nice find on YOUTUBE. Lets hope that the Quonset Aircraft can find new homes. I think there has been enough work done on the 'Banshee' that someone will take interest in finishing the restoration... 8)
