Collings Foundation 'Betty Jane'

Sun Feb 26, 2017 6:13 am

Does anyone know the aeroplane's current status? I saw around Christmas time, there was talk this aeroplane was going to England to be flown over there for a season, and have since seen a picture of the fuselage in a shipping jig, but that talk has only come from one source.

I've also seen mentions about the aeroplane going into deep maintenance. Does anyone have any more information?

Thanks :D

Rumor was that to help anglicize the bird they were going to change the name to "Beatrice Eugenia."

Wasn't there a rumor that it was going to re-emerge as "Ding Hao!"?

And here I thought the obvious choice would be "The Stars Look Down".

I don't like to use the word dataplate...although that is pretty much what it is, I prefer "ghost of" - 42-103293 that was assigned to 359th Fighter Group 370th Fighter Squadron. Capt. Carey Brown went down possibly doing a loop. There were thunderstorms in the vicinity.

I don't know exactly how much they started with but she assumed the identity of this airframe. I thought a lot about Carey while flying her...especially doing acro. What had to have been an epic fun and spirited flight, to end in tragedy.

Shipping Jig - No

Deep Maintenance - Yes

There have been no firm plans for what will take place after the 12-14 month (time is estimated) deep maintenance.
