This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I was just sitting around thinking (honest, I really was) about some of the things that Scott has been doing to increase the potential of this site such as the mugshots and expanded aircraft database. Both great ideas. Maybe this has already been done since I'm still somewhat of a newbie, but it seems as though most if not all of the participants in this forum have a direct involvement in a museum or private group that flies and or restores warbirds. If each of us were to list that group or museum and the aircraft they they have, it may open up a more viable database. For instance, I participate at the Az Wing of the CAF in Mesa Az. If someone were to need cockpit shots of a B-17 or something else that I may have access to, it may help that person in need. Also, if a Wixer were passing through and wanted to stop and view our museum, I would be more than happy to give them the tour de grande. That way, not only could we put faces to names, but also face to face meetings. Whaddya think?

This idea is great, and I'm currently a member (though not a volunteer) of the Indiana Aviation Museum as it is my hometown museum. I visit this museum once or twice a year dependent on the events that they may hold.

We maintain a Grumman US-2B, Lockheed C-60, and a Stinson OY-1. Also we have Fighter Factory about twenty minutes down the road with their wide assortment of aircraft.

I figured somebody must have started something in the past since it seems to be a good way to interact with ither Wixers. Glad to see I'm not the only one who feels this way. I think everyone can get along since we're all in this for the same reason- We all love warbirds.

Unless I'm missing something, the list thats in progress doesn't specifically address Chris's issue. I thought he's asking for a list of members that are associated with a given museum or aircraft type, not for a list of museums and what planes are where. Am I missing something, either in this thread or in the other one?

OK--- a little of both. The list you're working on with a little broader scope. I just figure that if I need a cockpit shot of let's say, the 390th bomb group B-17 at Pima, maybe James in tucson could help me out or if I were taking a group down there again, it would be nice to hook up with him and maybe have him show us around since it's his stomping ground. It's at least worth a burger at the Thunderbird Cafe, right? Thats the kind of stuff I'm talking about. Another example. I'm going to Alabama in a few weeks and I'm going to make the detour ( a small one) to go to Pensacola. Any Wixers there that want to show off the place? Like I said, it's at least worth a free lunch. Plus, I think that over time, with enough interaction between members of different warbird groups and museums, we find out that we're really not as different as we may have thought and we can better understand the ideologies of different groups such as whether or not to fly.
