Barksdale Defenders of Liberty Air Show 2017 - Doc's first

Tue May 09, 2017 11:07 pm

Was there Friday, Saturday, and part of Sunday. Flying WWII era war-birds included: P-51 (Quick Silver), Collings 262, Lone Star's B-25 and B-17, and the one everyone wanted to see, B-29 Doc. On the static line were a Stearman, an AT-6, and numerous smaller prop planes and a row of military jets-F-18s, etc. Scattered around the ramp for folks to get close to were a C-5, B-1, B-52,and others I'm sure I didn't see. Flying Saturday in solo acts were Randy Ball in his MIG and a T-33. Randy flew Sunday, I didn't see the T-33. Both days had numerous aerobatic flights.
Friday's highlight was the practice for the B-25, B-17, B-29, and B-52 flyover. Saturday and Sunday had a 3 B-52 flyover and a flyover of a B-52, B-1, and B-2 which I didn't get any pictures of. On with the pictures:

That bomber flyby would have been with seeing.
I'm not a huge fan of staged sideshow stuff but seeing multiple generations of bombers is a big deal.

Yeah,
thanks for posting.
Pretty cool. B-52 3 ship is not common, for sure.

that is awesome - now a true nuclear formation would be the BUFF, B-2 and DOC in formation!

Fantastic photos! It looks like a very worthy debut for Doc.

Speaking of which, although we all have different opinions about polished birds, you can tell how dearly Doc is loved and how well-cared for it is by that finish. Spectacular.
