The caption with this pic says it was taken at Clark Field which appears correct. Any idea how and wast that bird wound up there?

Baugher lists nine A-25s from that serial block as condemned May 1, 1945, including 42-80171 in the photo. Would they all have been in that same location?

From what I have read the USAAF A-25 Shrike's were not utilized in any combat operations. Uses included target tugs, photo recon training, mosquito spraying, etc. Given that it displays the high-vis yellow paint I vote for target tug. Hard to believe that the USAAF would ship such an aircraft all the way to the Pacific for such as ancillary role.

Does Clark Field have an absolutely symmetrical volcano/mountain in the distant background? I don't think so. This photo was taken in Japan, and the mountain is Fuji.

I say the volcano is somewhere in Central America like this one with B-17Es of the Sixth AF. Also the tree in the background is very tropical.
