Out of the Ashes H-34

Mon Feb 27, 2006 10:43 pm

A while back a question was asked about an S-58 for Collings. In that thread Jim Moriarty mentioned that the H-34 being discussed was his and he described the story of its demise. He also mentioned that he donated it to a group restoring another H-34. The following link has video of those first flights.

That is just too cool. I have friends that flew & crewed H-34's in Nam. Great to see one restored & flying. :D

Hey Rick was that the one that was based here in Houston that I saw at Pearland Regional all the time and at Wings Over Houston? If so I wondered why I never saw it anymore.

Nathan, the donor bird was from Houston.

Look at the threads a little further down the page. The story about the Houston H-34 is in the thread titled Collings Foundation S-58.

I always wondered what happened to the H-34. It came thru here on its' delevery flight to Houston after restoration and spent the night on my ramp. Got up early to watch it leave the next a.m. Beautiful sight and sound. Saw her at a couple of shows that year in the Veitnam portion with T-28s,O-2s,and L-19s, and haven't seen her since. Shame
