Seems to have been quiet regarding the C-97 at Chanute, but the scrapping can not be too far in the future. I assume you saw the pictures where the tail was removed and the stars and bars were cut from the fuselage here:

Yep. The F-101 and the C-133 are the last really intact a/c remaining, for now...

are they scrapping the f86?? any details on it? can it be purchased and saved by a private investor?

My understanding is the tail and other bits are going to McGhee-Tyson ANG to be on display at the base airpark currently under construction.
