Northwest Avenger?

Tue Oct 10, 2017 12:37 pm

Are there any restored, flying TBM/TBF Avengers in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia)?

It's the old man's favorite airplane and we're kicking around getting him a ride in one without having to fly him across country 'to' one.

Any help would be appreciated.

The Erickson Aircraft Collection has two - one's staying and one's going.

Aren't there any in Eastern Idaho (Idaho Falls area) or Nampa?
There are a lot if warbird in the state, so you'd think that there would be a TBM somewhere.

Perhaps one will be added to the new collection and museum in Lewiston.
It would be fitting because Hillcrest Aviation there bought many from the USN surplus sales and sold them to civil operators.

It's a little further afield but the Rocky Mtn Wing of the CAF has one in Colorado.

Whats kind of funny about this list is that we have three TBMs registered to Connecticut! But in actuality one is in Rhode Island, the other in New York, and the third in Danbury (which has an expired airworthy certificate) will apparently be on the market soon.

Two in Delaware...in the same ZIP Code...

That's why I don't use or believe that feature on the FAA database.
If you look at any high end aircraft fleet....bizjets or warbirds...you find many with a corporation name and address in corporation-friendly states.

In short, there is often a difference between where an aircraft is registered and where it's hangared.

Here's another example...If you use the same database and search "P-51" you get 13 Mustangs in Deleware.
