Warbird identification please :)

Wed Oct 03, 2018 4:29 pm

Good evening to the community, i'm just looking for a airplane identification.

It appears in Cartier Santos advertisement, i searched hours what the model is, and because i cannot success by myself, i'm turning on you for this job....

At first i thought it was a T6 Texan, but it's not, because of the top air vent, and the landing gear appears different. It's neither a SB2U-2 Vindicator ...

Any help would be appreciated :)

It's the Seversky AT-12 (trainer version of the P-35), owned/operated by the Planes of Fame Air Museum. A very art deco era aircraft.

To me, there is so much 1930's art deco styling in the design of the tail, the windscreen, the canopies, the tail cone (a work of art just in itself), and the landing gear fairings.

Here's a photo just showing the tail cone assembly from an AT-12/P-35 - by itself, it's a piece of 1930's "modern art" (photo by Kermit Weeks): https://scontent.ffcm1-2.fna.fbcdn.net/ ... e=5C1D4488

"a work of art just in itself"
No understatement - it is gorgeous.
I wonder how many hours of labor in just that piece?

Another aircraft you would also like is the Curtiss CW-22 / SNC Falcon. A beauty with great performance.
