Chuck graced us with so many insights with his wonderfull experience.....

If the case of the P51 being sold (and what amazing story this bird is.....Think about first gen / efforts of re-creation of Mustangs)

....I will be so ever gratefull to what he (and his boss (there's a few of them) ) gave us......

This being said it has been a while since we had news. Hoping all is well. A forum can get tirering.

Just hoping he is practicing touch and go's on the FW190 or getting checked out on the 262 :-)

P.S. if sold...I want to know how many hours was put into that P51 bird???? Pretty sure it ranks up with the most flown 51 in NA in the recent years.

I've seen it in discussions considered likely the most high-time P-51, ever, having gone 8+ seasons with the Collings Foundation tour and constant day-to-day flying (several thousand hours on the airframe). In 2004, when it was first completed, it was of course a completely new aircraft, but by 2016 it needed what has become quite an in-depth, stripped down, restoration. I know it was at least rumored about in 2016 that "Betty Jane" was going to be for sale after Colling's TF-51D "Toulouse Nuts" was completed and replaced it on the tour.

Just out of curiosity, why sell the C (other than it's due for an overhaul)?
It is more unique than the two seat D, perhaps a plus in the ride/exhibition business.

-Perhaps the D has better passenger accommodations/visibility?
-Or perhaps because of its rarity, the foundation saw a chance to make a greater profit by selling the C?

Betty Jane was great to fly from the back seat. I had a lot more shoulder room in her back seat than a D or TF model due to the canopy.

If there ever was a problem, you wouldn't be able to get out. You are comfortable but way back in a hole. It was like flying in a tube.
