Garber Facility

The web site for the Paul Garber Restoration Facility hasen't been updated in years!!!! What's the deal? Does anyone know what's currently being restored? Any pictures of the P-61?

We had some nice P-61 shots of it undergoing a 'make over' in the latest Classic Wings, including cockpit photo.

Here are two shots I took back in the mid 1990s.
My guess is that not much will be fully restored at Garber, just cleaned up and moved to Dulles until the new restoration faucility is built.
I went to a restoration seminar at Garber when I took these pictures. Hope they do the seminars again when the new place is done!!!

The Smithsonian has a travel catalog that advertises trips/seminars to far flung places around the globe as well as trips right here in the states. A friend of mine went to the restoration seminar back in the late 80s, early 90s and told me to try and make one. I just so happen to see it advertised in the catalog and signed up! It was about $1500 for 5-6 days at the Garber facility! Was one of my top ten aviation experiences!! They shut down the projects for the week to show step by step how they go about their amazing restorations. Metal bending, to paint matching, to cotton fabric covering!!! I'll have to scan in some more of the pictures. One of the coolest things was during breaks they let me wonder around the different buildings on my own. So I jumped the ropes to get some good pictures. That place was the most amazing aviation toy box EVER! The short wings for the Hughes racer were on the shelves along with Enola Gay parts, the Hurricane was just about done. Anyway... great time...
At Oshkosh a couple years ago I asked Don Lopez if they were going to have the seminars again when they get in the new place and he said he hoped that they would. We will see.

would love to see pics!!! do they still offer this privelege?? & how much?? was pretty pricey years ago, but well worth the experience obviously!!
