These 2 airframes were at the Nimitz Museum in 1974, does anyone know what type they were and what happened to them?

I remember seeing those! I was just a dumb kid back then and I was travelling through the hill country when I saw the tail of one of them sticking up over a fence. Had to stop and check it out. The Type 97 Shinoto Chi-Ha and the Ha-19 mini-sub really stunned me. I go back when I can and the only thing different is I am no longer a kid.

Wasn't there some fairly substantial D3A Val remains there at one time?

FYI, it is not a Rufe. It's a N1K1 Kyofu.

The N1K1 "Rex" is still there.

Is that the Rex that used to be at NAS Willow Grove years ago? I think there was a Jill there too, then. Outside. Both of them.

There were various German and Japanese aircraft at Willow Grove, but the Nimitz's Rex wasn't there.

The "Jill" and "George" at NAS Willow Grove went to NASM (George restored and displayed at Udvar Hazy, Jill in storage at Garber).
The "Rex" and Arado 196 went to NMNA (Pensacola); the Arado is I believe still being restored in Germany, I heard that the Rex was traded to the Coulson firefighting organization in Alaska for the Philippines Mars.
Someone else might provide a list of aircraft that remain at Willow Grove, but these should include the Me 262 trainer, Cutlass and FJ-4 Fury

The 262 is now at NMNA and according to their website they believe their Rex is now at the Nimitz Museum...

There have been three "Rex" in the US, at Nimitz, Willow Grove and NASM. The Nimitz Rex has been there since restoration at Texas A&M (if my memory is correct) in the 1970s at least, and is not the specimen that was at Willow Grove and from there to Pensacola. The Nimitz Rex may be on longterm loan from NMNA (see
http://www.historynet.com/lone-star-rex.htm)
I stand by my information that the Willow Grove Rex went to NMNA and on to Alaska; I heard a report of this maybe three or four years ago.
