Aero L-39 in bits

Fri Mar 24, 2006 11:49 pm

I went barn-hunting yesterday and stopped at a few area strips as well to
see about progress on some projects. At one spot, I expected a Bell 47,
but was surprised to see it had been replaced by an L-39 s/n 483137. The
red-stars were blotted out by tan/Lt. blue roundels. All mantainence panels
were labeled in cyrillic print. She was in pieces, but looked to be in good,
but used condition. Interesting badge stencilled on the vertical fin. Anyone
know this bird?

The second digit of an L-39 c/n is always a 3, so I think yours will have been 433137, the former Ukrainian Air Force 31 yellow.
It used to be with International Jets at Gadsden AL (noted there Mar01-Mar04).
Can you be a little more specific about where you saw it please?

Yes, you are correct Andy..the L-39 is Yellow 31. My dyslexia was acting
up that day and I wrote an 8 rather than a 3. Thank you for your help!
