The latest issue of Air and Space had a short article on a U.S. collector that has purchased a Sea Harrier. The collector, a former Marine aviator that was involved in the U.S. AV-8 program, plans to fly it on the U.S. airshow circut. (now if we can only get some F-14s out of Iran)

I'll pass on the jets. They all sound alike to me. Give me the sound of pistons in high RPM and I'm a happy man.

Actually the plane has been in the states for a little while now. They are in the process of assembling it and getting it airworthy.

In a way I agree. Hearing eight B-17's run up their engines at thunder over michigan 2005 on Sunday was something I'll never forget. But I still love the howl of jets. (got hooked back in the 70's watching F-106's and F-100's blasting by at Selfridge ANGB open houses)

The J-79s in the F-4 actually have a deep rumble at idle. If you're close enough you can feel it in your chest.
Of course when you do a ground run in afterburner your whole body vibrates !
