CASA 2.111 (N72615) Heinkel He 111

Thu Jan 10, 2019 6:34 pm

What happened to the bones of Francisco Franco's personal transport: CASA 2.111 (N72615)?

I remember when It went down in 2003.

I thought I read somewhere, that what survived, was put into storage.

The wreckage was released to the insurance company on August 13, 2003.
-NTSB

But, did someone acquire the wreckage or was it scrapped?

Speaking of 111s-
For those of you on Facebook-
The Piston Powered Warbirds page has an entry from Monday 1/7 with a picture taken that day of FCHAM's (Paul Allen's) "CASA 111" outside a hanger in Arlington Washington.

The photo is in a closed Facebook group. But it shows a fully restored CASA 2.111 fuselage resting on the main gear and painted in German markings. If you zoom in on the photo, you can see a Merlin on the mounts.

Any chance anyone could show it here for those not in the closed group?

Yeah, I saw the Merlins as well. I was under the impression it was going back to the original engines. Anyone heard any more details on this?

Only that FHC has several Jumo 211s in rebuild, including one for the Stuka.
