Not strictly warbird news (but more so than the movements of a Big Boy locomotive):

DC-7B N4887C is taxiing under her own power again...one more step in getting air back under her wings.

If you scroll a bit further down the link, you'll also encounter a February report on the rather pessimistic status of C-118A N578AS. Interestingly enough, as of 4/23, she is now under new ownership.

Current conjecture involves N4887C making just two flights: One short ferry hop over to Phoenix Mesa-Gateway (for full restoration), and then the longer jaunt to Atlanta and the Delta Flight Museum--as nice a retirement home for which an old, round-motor aeroplane could hope.

One of the current gems of that museum is DC-3 "Delta 41" (N28341). In my extensive (10-minute!) research, I could not determine whether this DC-3 is still flown occasionally or not. Her status with the FAA expires in November.

However...

Following Delta 41's restoration, she DID win a "Lindy" award at Oshkosh in 2000. I'm sure many are hopeful that N4887C would get the chance to show off at Oshkosh one day as well.
