We have an upgrade path!

Good news! We have an upgrade path for the site!
Hopefully the upgrade will be started in June and only take a couple of days, hopefully with little or no down time.
The server upgrade will allow us to upgrade the forum software which should allow some new features and most importantly new spam controls. I will keep you updated on the progress.

I'm reindexing the site (basically search through the posts for keywords)
Unfortunately it is very time consuming (not for me, it's automatic, but the process is)
The software can basically index 4 posts per second. Considering we are at well over half a million posts,
it will be a couple of days. Hopefully it works. Fingers crossed!

Glad the search feature is getting upgraded. I have to admit that the current version is pretty useless.

What will happen to all the old threads as part of this upgrade process? I've noticed that there is a collection of archived posts from the "first generation" of WIX. Will the same thing happen after this upgrade? Based on your mention of "indexing old posts", I take it that they will remain.

The first generation required a software change that did not allow the database to be migrated so we made it into a "fixed" archive. In this case the upgrade involves a server change but the software will remain the same. The server change will allow the software to be brought up to the latest version but should essentially remain the same except for some additional feature. I'll also work on updating the look of the site a little bit.
