Makes sense. That's what happened to all those killed on the Titanic; the sea life ate the remains.
There was an airliner crash in the everglades once and I read that the younger rescuers were retching at the sight of critters and marine life crawling off with the pieces of those killed to have for dinner.

It only makes sense if the aircraft actually came down there. You need to have an airplane or decent evidence of one before you get to claim "crabs stole the bodies". The absence of bodies does not prove that Nikamaru was the crash site.

As I posted elsewhere, TIGHAR is prone to telling stories in a way that doesn't get cause and effect in the right order... "The lack of remains proves that crabs ate the bodies after the crash."

Hey, I'm not saying they landed there or specifically anywhere else for that matter, I am only saying that it is likely that the local marine life would have eaten the evidence if they'd gone down in water somewhere. Like in the case of the Titanic, you'd likely just have remains like shoe heels and anything metal left over (and unlike the Titanic victims, some bone fragments).

Having spent just one night in the jungle on Tinian - those coconut crabs can seem like a Tiger Tank moving thought the dark when its just you and a couple friends out there.

The crabs that Nat Geo is referring to are not marine life. They are coconut crabs--land animals. But their pincer strength is about equal to that of a Maine lobster, and they are omnivorous. They can easily be a foot across.
