Alaska C-133 Flys Again!!!!

Sat Apr 15, 2006 6:26 am

Hello all,
While at work yesterday in Anchorage, AK I looked out the window and saw the C-133 Globemaster (sn 56199?/ N199AB) takeoff on 32. Unfortunately I did not have my camera with me and it was double pane windows so I did not get to hear its unique sound. It came back and landed on 7R and taxied up to the ramp located at the far east end of the field (Corner of Jewel Lake and Anchorage International Airport roads) which is not its normal parking spot. Usually parked at the old Reeve Aelutian hanger. Looks like it is possably staged to fly again soon. I believe this is the only flying C-133 left.

By the way I love it up here. Where else in the world in the year 2006 can you see a DC-3(Desert Air Cargo), A couple of DC-6s(Northern Air Cargo and Everts Air Cargo) and a C-133 fly in the same day? :D

How cold is it?

Sat Apr 15, 2006 6:55 am

Yesterday the temperatures got into the 40's unfortuanetly there was a 20 knot wind out of the north that made it feel signifigantly colder. Currently it is 28 Degrees with a wind chill of 21. Forecast calls for a high today of 36 and a low of 16.

By that same link http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N199AB I noticed it departed for KPHO 8mins ago, from Anchorage.
Anyone interested to see photos from the C-113 see my webpage
http://www.ruudleeuw.com and look for Alcan03 (Alaska - Canada 2003) when I saw N199AB resting on the tarmace of ANC and look also for photos by Stu Sibitzsky, for some nice take off stuff.
Boy, I wish I could see it for myself now...

Looks like I'll have to start a registry for the C-133 :)

It just landed in Anchorage tonight at 1145pm. Unfortunately it was dark and I was unable to get a picture of it. Sounded great though.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to get a picture of that aircraft by any means necessary... well as long as you don't get arrested... or shot... or body cavity searched (unless you want too...ewww)

Mission accepted under cover of darkness. [img=http://thumb19.webshots.com/t/53/53/8/12/68/2223812680089304439JSAAUN_th.jpg]

I will try and get a better one soon during daylight hours.

Thanks.... no offense but that is the most underexposed picture I have seen, except the ones where I left the lens cap on. :) I look forward to a daylight photo.

And behold the latest registry addition in response to your post

Hope you don't mind. I brightened it up a tad to find the hidden airplane. It did get a little pixilated in the process.

That's almost as bad as the night shots of the Antonov AN225 I took. You'll notice I never posted THOSE photos!
