What happened to Key Publishing Ltd Aviation Forums?

Absolutely awful redesign - Impossible to follow/read.

I'll definitely have more free time on my hands now.

Same here: if they fix it I'll keep using it. Otherwise it falls the other side of my "too much trouble/better things to do" dividing line.

I can not even access it anymore... fill my user name and password, and error...

The Key forums and websites have had an upgrade.

They can be found here:

https://www.key.aero/forum

Existing users have to setup a new password. (You should have got an email with the instructions from Key Aero).

Cheers

Paul

Thank you Bradburger, had not received email.

IMHO, that redesign is an epic fail...

No problems HM.

Yes, the new design is causing a few headaches it seems, and has not been well received!

Maybe those in charge will do some tweaking.

Cheers

Paul

thanks for the heads up, my link was no longer working.

Will have to re-do my password before I have the urge to participate in a flame war over there that usually goes something like:
A: "The MiG-29 is the bestest fighter ever"
B: "While the MiG-29 has great agility in a close dogfight, it does have several shortcoming like range, and outdated sensors...."
A: "What do you know? the MiG-29 is still the coolest and will beat anything..."

repeat.....

Mmm doesn't sound like the forum I knew: it was all about Spitfires and Duxford; not much MiG material on the Flypast forum that I noticed. But I did have to laugh at the comment above regarding the site's "upgrade": must remember to avoid upgrades in future.

I was more referring to the Modern Military Forum over there which is full of fanboys. The Historic Aviation thread seems more genteel.

An utterly cascading cluster...If this was an *upgrade* then they need to do the opposite of that. Apparently newly hired staff were involved.

If that is the case that newly hired staff were involved, I am not impressed.

They have given some more detail on their thinking, approach, and next steps.
https://www.key.aero/forum/forum-update ... rum-update

I can understand wanting have their own platform for editorial content (rather than replying on PocketMags or whoever), but they also created their own (minimally functional) forum platform. They migrated to this out without any warning, let alone consultation of user requirements etc. So the forum users have been treated with absolute contempt.
Current staff appear to be making positive steps, but their employers have put them at the bottom of a deep hole.

After spending 5 mins looking at it and trying to work out why they let a 4 year old redesign something that didn't need redesigning I gave up and have't bothered visiting since....and won't be again. And I didn't get an email either.
Shame after 15+ years contributing, but that's life and nothing's forever.

Makes me think back fondly to the early days of the Paul C setting up of the clunky old WWW forum back in the day and how things have changed since then.
