Tue Apr 18, 2006 5:59 am

Just back from Wanaka and thought I would post a few pics before I get some shut eye after a full on weekend. More pics and some details later.
Not sure why the first two attached at a different size than the others..too tired to care

Hello Dave,

Is that "new" P-40 owned by Alan Arthur? Did the Pioneer guys get her flying in time?

Take care,

Ron

Great, makes me want to buy a plane ticket to see some F-111 action, but I feel that might burn a huge hole in my pocket right now. Thanks for posting the shots.

Awsome! Thanks for sharing! I love the Polikarpovs taking off together.

All the pics are awsome. The F-111 shot is great.

Personal favorite is the "Reno" photo of Corsair and PBY!

So who won? :o

and the first appearance at WOW of the F111...

This was probably the last NZ show of the AFC Spitfire, sold to Australia.

And three P-40's at the same show. This could possibly become a common occurance in NZ and Australia over the next few years...

Pioneer got Alan Arthur's P-40 down on late Thursday after a huge effort. The three P-40s did a couple of passes together ( unfortunately I was in the Classic Wings tent and didn't get any shots). The ex Pioneer P-40N had an oil temp problem which couldn't be nailed down, so it made a fleeting appearance.
Lighting was quite flat by the time the warbirds section started up in the mid afternoon, which didn't make for the best photography. Those with the very blue sky were taken on Fridays practice day. Friday evening there was a memorial service for the late Ray Hanna outside the new OFMC building, with two P-40s on guard and Sarah Hanna giving a talk.Ray was certainly missed at this years even, as Mark was previously.
The show will now be handed over to a Wanaka Trust to run, but as Sir Tim said ' we will remain involved- because we know what we are doing'
