Anybody have any information on this image? (namely where and/or when)

To me, it looks like Tillamook's "B" hangar, as the pattern on the pavement matches other shots from that same angle I've seen.
As for when and what the deal with the other planes, well, I just don't know.

Whether it's true or not I have no idea

The construction looks like many other airship hangars around the country: Tustin, Sunnyvale (Moffett) and several others. But the two SBDs in an Atlantic paint scheme suggest somewhere on the Eastern seaboard. In that case NAS Glynco could very well be the location. The construction looks wrong for Lakehurst.

I'm sure I've seen this shot described as 'aircraft sheltering from a storm' or similar. Not sure where it would have been published/accurately captioned however.

I have to agree with Clifford Bossie... it's an east coast NAS. The Atlantic Grey SBD's and the bunch of Brewster SB2A's seem to confirm it. Also NAS So Weymouth is another possibility.

Very cool photo. How many different types in that pic? And what a cool modeling diorama. Might take a while to build though.

Sheltering from a storm is my theory too. And while looking I found that in September 1945 at NAS Richmond, neighboring aircraft were moved into the blimp hangars to shelter from a hurricane. But during the storm, the roof blew off one of the hangars and shortly thereafter it caught fire. The fire spread to two other blimp hangars, destroying 300 aircraft and 15 blimps.
