RCAF "Target Tow" Dakotas ...

I'm under the assumption these RCAF C-47's are indeed "Target Tower's" by the stripes and all that "stuff" hanging off the tail.
Question: What is all that stuff used for? Any target tow experts out there?

Must have been an attractive scheme in color.

It looks like a mixed mash of early RCAF / test bed / commemorative what so ever......

Almost like a local squadron hack job....Really impressed here......

Not even counting the triple zip zag red bolt which I never seen before.....

What I can point out / think out:
- The weird window side bulge, looks like a target tug helper
- The really bizarre like metal side hump on the front side fuselage
- The recent Canadian RCAF roundel.......this was recent!

Makes me wonder if that was? One of the pic are paratroopers hooks methinks!

What a gorgeous Canadian bird that is.....

Look at the apparatus under the wing / close to the wing tip....

Same things with all the aerials on the tail!!!!!!

The recent Canadian RCAF roundel.......this was recent!

The roundels seen on the Daks in these photos were used from 1948-1965, replaced with the 'New Leaf' roundel when the new flag was introduced in 1965.

The first three of 657 were taken in May 1951, most likely just after being converted by Canadair.

The one of KN269 was taken in June 1951.

Not sure about the one of 660, but by the code style it would have probably been in the mid to late 50's.
