Practice bombs

Sat Feb 29, 2020 5:53 pm

I picked up this 100 pound practice bomb at a estate sale, I looked just a little online about them but would like to hear more from Wixers on them. I would like to refinish it back to original, after I get my tetanus shot and get a B-25 to go with it! I seen a few pictures online that are in a light blue finish. What would be the correct color and lettering for WWII time frame?
Thanks, BCMJ

It looks like an M38A2 practice bomb. You might find this link helpful:

Thanks for that link, Randy - tons of info, plus the crash site list let me update a bunch of B-17 accidents on my copy of David Osborne's Fortress Master Log.

Thanks Randy, I seen that one but don’t dig deep into till Chris posted about all the other info that site has.
Thanks again to both of you!

That ugly light blue is proper for inert USN practice bombs. Sorry I don't remember the FS number.
