In response to cancelled airshows....

Fri Apr 03, 2020 11:20 am

Hi all,

This year sucks.... and will continue to suck as this covid-19 BS will be with us for awhile and the after effects for much longer. So since few if any new pictures will be generated this year I want to see your best 5-10 pictures from the past of each airshow that has been officially cancelled for this year. The pics don't have to be strictly aircraft related but have to be connected to the airshow. Bonus points if any of the pics contain a WIXer!

PS. it can be 5-10ish, I know its tough, I tried to put together pics from a single airshow and had over 100. Do your best!

If you need help posting images let me know.

Here are a few from the last time I attended Goshen, which was in 2017. This year's show was scheduled for July 11.

This thread is a nice idea. I'm going to reach back a little farther for mine, to the 2006 Chino show. One of my favorites of all time.

They tried to capture the full timeline of fighters at that show, from Camel to F-16. The result was a lot of unusual formations that I never saw repeated.

Bob Pond was still alive and Palm Springs contributed the B-17, Hellcat, P-63, and Tigercat. There were 3 Hellcats that year, with Friedkin's and CAF's joining Pond's. Four Corsairs including POF's F4U-1, F2G race 57, and the FG-1Ds that later went to Rod Lewis and Vintage Wings of Canada.

They were not then monetizing early morning access, so you could just show up and look at whatever you wanted with nobody around.

Good times.

That was a great year August! It was also the first PoF airshow after their Hellcat was destroyed so I was blown away to see the 3 Hellcats on the field.

Much appreciated Scott. After some deliberation over at FB it was concluded that these must have been taken in '88 rather than '89. Oh well, I was close!
