Real simple question - what did the Italians call their military airfields during WWII ?
I know the Luftwaffe had different names for the different type of fields, but all I can find for the Italian fields is " Aeroporto di " - which would be correct for a civilian airfield....
It also seems silly {?} that every airport name is Airport of (city name).
Just trying to get my head around the proper terminology of these targets.
So:
Military Airfield ?
Landing Ground ?
Auxiliary Field ?
Test and Research ?
Seaplane base ?

Hmmm, never gave it much thought before... I'd be interested in this info as well.
