Each of our C-130s had a pouch where we stored a set of VIP rank placards and a bracket in the lower kick window by the aircraft commander to place them when a VIP was onboard. One of the guys in the squadron had an identical placard made up with captain's bars. He got a lot of double takes when pulling up at a transient base. Good times.
