Naval Aviation Memorial on Virginia Beach

Sun Apr 30, 2006 12:02 pm

Hi!

We walked down the length of the beach on Saturday during the car show and stopped to look at the new memorial at 22nd street.

There are several granite plaques etched with the full hitory of Naval Aviation. Fixed Wing, Helicopters, Aircraft Carriers, Airships etc, are all mentioned and not all of the pieces were installed yet. There are large columns and bronze statues of Pilots and Aircrew at the ready. The history of naval aviation goes from the beginning with the curtis airplanes all the way to the V-22

Pics to come......
