ww2 parts from Nuthampstead Airfield

I bought some items at auction last month and they eventually turned up today.

A plastic bomb salvo guard

A section from a turbo supercharger

A Cannon adjuster.

The plastic bomb guard came with a B17 label but part number inside is 97-63109 and I think it is from a P51 A or B ?

The turbine looks to be from a turbocharger But Nuthampstead had P39 and B17 who both used turbochargers. Is there a way to say which one this is from ? Only numbers on it are AS66174 B8180236CH002 272 2

Final item is said to be 20mm cannon adjuster from P38 But I cannot see this on the P38 images and drawings and there is no part number. Is it an armourers tool ?

Given the positive symbol, is the adjuster more likely to be electrical and the Cannon referring to the maker, well known for it's Cannon plugs?

It reminds me of the dummy connectors used to terminate battery leads when the battery is removed.

It could well be - the label on it was maybe what was misleading me - a P38 20mm cannon selector control unit. But as has been shown by the B17/P51 salvo control the labels are are likely fictitious.

I will check cannon products asap.

Item 4 is a battery quick disconnect. The two battery leads and contacts are housed within the body and turning the knob either engages or disengages the leads and the battery terminals.

Thank you Gentlemen. Can I ask a dumb question were they used on all USAAF aircraft or can we say P38,P51 or B17 - all of which were used at this airfield.

The QD's were standard for almost everything above liaison type aircraft, or anything adapted from a civilian model.

I received a pile of B17 parts today and spent a day looking through the parts manual.

I did find this B17 parts list drawing for the Cannon battery box.



I am not saying it is B17 - from the airfield it could be P38, P51 or B17.

Typo Nuthampstead had P38s based there.

And still are, I can't of a single warbird I've worked on that didn't have that battery QD.
