Who owns it? Where?

Fri Sep 25, 2020 2:10 am

I recently received these two photos, from a friend.

This is what I know, so far:

They were taken around the mid-2019, on US-59 / -I-69 Northbound, between Victoria, TX and Houston.

Have any of y'all any additional information on it?

Looks like an ex Polish MiG-21bis.
Maybe 8971? This was one of the 20 or so stored with Draken International at Lakeland FL.

59 i.e. the parking lot heading into Sugarland looks like. Is this at Ellington now?

I dunno where it is now.

If it was in Lakeland, FL at one time, what was it doing northbound on 59? Unless it was sea-shipped to Corpus Christi?

Or was it sold elsewhere, and then trucked into the Houston area?

Or, was it bound elsewhere?

Thanks for the input, guys.

The VietNam War Flight Museum (EFD) donated a MIG-21 last year, I thought to someplace in Oklahoma.
Don’t know if this could be it, or why it be at the posted location. Could it have been seen on 59, north of Houston?

MAJOR CHANGES

I finally made contact with the friend who sent me the photos.

The date was 18 July 2019.

The highway IS NOT US-59 and the direction IS NOT Northbound

From another photo, previous to the airplane shots, I know exactly where they were taken:

I-10 / Katy Fwy WESTBOUND, Between Texas Hwy 6 and Barker-Cypress Rd.

It kind of makes sense, if the airplane was reported in Lakeland, FL to be heading West on I-10.

I questioned the information he first gave me, on it being Northbound on US-59, etc. so he went to his telephone, and dug the date and other images, that helped to determine location and direction.

So, the MiG can be anywhere West and North of Houston!!! Yes, that narrows the search a lot!!!

Sorry, for providing erroneous information at first.
