It is significantly farther away from the buildings than the photo's make it look. Zoom lenses distort the depth of field and make objects look close than in reality. Look for the video's of them flying and it doesn't look as bad. They basically fly down the river and out over the ocean. not much different than the AoD flyovers in Washington, just that the buildings are taller.
Still impressive but not as dangerous as it looks or is made out to be.

The Brisbane River is not very wide buy the way. In real life its impressive for a big bird like that.

They do low level training up and down the Sunshine Coast every year and practice Riverfire every year.The Army Aviation helos do it down low.
