Just for fun: GA aircraft with military markings

Wed Nov 11, 2020 7:33 pm

Fully aware that the owner can paint his aircraft as he or she wishes, and that markings may -wink-wink- not be accurate, let's see civilian aircraft painted in military markings.

All four aircraft in this first thread, at the Brookshire, TX airfield.

EDITED

I was thinking, that scaled replicas should not be included. After all, they were designed and built to represent their full-size brethren.

Three:

The Mooney, West Houston Airport, Houston TX

The Tomahawk, somewhere SE from Chicago, and so long ago, I cannot even remember the name of the airport.

The Volksplane, at Brookshire TX

Looks to be a Zenith CH701. Only ever seen a few built as taildraggers.

Back in the '70s, Grumman American offered the Yankee (or the "Trainer" variant) in pseudo military schemes from the factory.

Generally harmless, but like incorrect schemes on warbirds, a bit annoying to the historian in me.

IIRC, some Varga Kachinas were also sold with optional quasi-military markings.
