The ZazaracWhen Harry became a newly minted Lieutenant in The Army Air Corps he and four other new P-40 qualified pilots went to celebrate at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans. The owner of the hotel saw the new officers and said: "Can I assist you with a drink gentlemen?" enter the Zazarac.
1/6 Bacardi Rum
1/6 anisette
1/6 gomme syrup
1/3 Canadian Club Whisky (or rye whiskey)
1 dash Angostura Bitters
1 dash orange bitters
3 dashes absinthe
Shake with ice. Strain into cocktail glass. Twist lemon peel on top.
